Frequently asked questions
- Is MapFindr free?
- It is, and fully featured: no advertising, no in-app purchases and no subscription.
- Do I need an account to play?
- There is no sign-up and no login. Open the app and play as a guest.
- Does it work offline?
- It does. The world map, the country outlines and the flags all ship inside the app, so a round never depends on a connection.
- Where is my progress kept?
- On your device only. Since there is no account, it is not synced across devices and it never reaches a server.
- That has one important consequence: if you uninstall the app or clear its data, the progress is gone and we have no way to restore it.
- How do I delete my data?
- Uninstall the app or clear its data in your system settings. Deletion is immediate and permanent, and no copy exists on our side — we collect nothing.
- How many countries and maps are there?
- 196 countries. You can play by continent — North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania — or take on the whole world, with up to five difficulty levels per map.
- What is the difference between the modes?
- Only the clue changes. Name and flag shows you both; Flag gives you the flag with no name; Capitals gives you the capital city. The map and the rules are identical.
- How do I change the language?
- Tap the gear icon at the top right of the home screen. MapFindr is available in English, Portuguese and Spanish.
- The map will not load, or the app froze. What now?
- Close the app completely and open it again, and check on the App Store that you are on the latest version. If it persists, write to support with your device model and iOS version — that is what lets us reproduce the failure.
- I found a mistake in a border, a name or a capital.
- Write in and tell us which country and what is wrong. The outlines come from the public Natural Earth dataset, and borders and names can differ between sources or change over time. We fix whatever is within our reach.
- Is there a leaderboard or multiplayer?
- Not in this version. What exists today is tracking of your own performance: hits, misses, accuracy per mode and your day streak.
- Which devices run MapFindr?
- iPhone. The minimum iOS version required is listed in the information section of the app page on the App Store, which is always the up-to-date source.
